This past weekend we had the extraordinary opportunity to gather amongst festival-goers from all around the world, coming together as one, creating an incredibly conscious and enlightening community. It was truly a blessing to have been a part of this community, and frankly, articulating our favorite moments is damn near impossible.
The term Symbiosis means “an interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both.” They really nailed that definition on the head for a festival by the same name; the moment our feet hit the ground, the unified energy practically slapped us in the face.
One of our greatest joys of festival culture would have to be the vast amounts of self-expression which take place. Festivals tend to attract their own unique flavor of attendees, creating a fun new creatively inspiring experience each time. Symbiosis was absolutely stacked with some of the most beautiful, unique & creative artistic expression we have ever seen!
The vibes at Symbiosis were beyond amazing.
No joke, whether it was matching unicorn converted motorized unicycles, turtle & dragon-mobiles, a floating tree house island filled with mermaids, or a hydro powered DeLorean, Symbiosis never had a single dull moment. We’ll never forget that time we soaked up the sun at the Swimbiosis stage, in awe of the DeLorean’s drifting glory as it sailed across the whole reservoir, with the sun slowly beginning to set while Justin Martin accompanied us.
Our biggest challenge faced at Symbiosis was the horrid fear of missing out. There was always so much to see, workshops to attend & art boats to sail. Staying put was extremely difficult! However, when we found ourselves barefoot in the sand, spinning poi at foot of the big island stage while Nicolas Jaar took our minds on a journey, we felt pretty content.
From the main festival acts, to the intermission fillers, every last performer poured their entire heart and soul into their performances. We have seen GRiZ countless times, and typically we know what were getting into, but this past weekend was something else. Charting into waters we’ve never seen him explore, GRiZ completely stole the show! Holding down the Big Island stage in the heat of the day was The Acid, starting out the set with just a few heads in the crowd and ending the set with a crowd-forced, 10+ minute encore. At one point during the end of their set we were faced with the realization of that moment coming to an end, we truly forgot that wasn’t just going to carry on forever.

If you’ve never made it out to Symbiosis Gathering, we highly recommend you book your trip now for next year! This past weekend was an absolute blast, the venue itself is enough for us to come back every single year. What other festival lets you camp out in the boonies, bring a boat & sail between camp and your favorite stage?! But seriously, the venue is unreal. We witnessed one of the best sunsets of our entire lives Saturday night, just up the hill from our campsite!
