The countdown was excruciating, and the days had been slowing at a dangerous rate, but the Holy Grail of Bass is finally here. Excision, one of bass music’s true leaders, released his annual Shambhala mix this week. The British Columbia-native has released the mix of his mix from the music festival each year since 2008, and we’re among many who treat the annual release like Christmas.
The combination of PK Sound-fueled bass at The Village stage, and those unique Shambhala Music Festival vibes, create the perfect storm for an atmosphere unlike any other. We were lucky enough to witness Excision’s 2015 mix live and in-person last month, and getting this mix (like all of the Shambhala live-sets we’ve been treated to) is the best way to re-live our favorite weekend of the year. It’s full of new tunes, IDs, remixes, and features 70 total tracks throughout 84 minutes of madness.
If you were unable to attend Shambhala, and are willing to travel to Seattle for a show unlike any other, you can get your Excision-fix this fall. He’s making a special one-stop only visit to the Emerald City, performing at the Safe In Sound 2015 tour’s stop at the WaMu Theater on Saturday, October 17th. A bassheads dream-lineup, Safe In Sound is coming to Seattle with Zomboy, Datsik, Terravita, and more in tow, and isn’t a show Northwest dance music fans should miss.
We can’t promise that you’ll get quite the same blend of Destroid, Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, Zomboy, Barely Alive, Spag Heddy, and the the rest of the talented producers Excision called upon at Shambhala 2015. But, when an artist takes time to perform at a specific stop of a tour, you can count on something special.
You can download the 2015 mix and checkout the track-list from Excision’s official site here, or check out the compilation album available on iTunes.
