There must be something in the water. The emerging pool of electronic dance music artists from the Pacific Northwest is, for lack of a better word, mind-blowing. We’re seeing a growing number of talented NW artists taking center stage. From big room giants BL3R to festival favorites ODESZA, there’s never been a better time to be a musician from the upper left corner of the United States.
For the first installment of Dance Music Docs, we present Grant Eadie, also known by many as Manatee Commune. A Bellingham native and multi-instrumentalist, his signature sound is otherworldly and unique to the world of chillwave electronica. Embodying the essence of the Northwest, Manatee Commune layers samples of natural elements, such as birds and river streams, with the sounds of live instruments and raw synths. There are very few artists who are capable of mastering nearly ten instruments and incorporating them flawlessly into live sets. To put it simply, Manatee Commune is redefining what it means to be an EDM artist in this day and age.
Check out the first installment of Dance Music Docs as we give you a behind-the-scenes look at the life and artistry of Manatee Commune.
