The Apple Watch has barely been out for a few days, and it’s already trying to find a way to help you DJ on the go. While it most certainly won’t be replacing vinyl and standalone mixers anytime soon, it does feature some functionality for the mobile aspiring DJ. The app is called djay and it does exactly as it’s named. One thing to keep in mind is that this is not a standalone application; you will need to pair it with an iPhone or iPad to be able to make it work. Before you can start mixing, be sure to have it downloaded and up-to-date on both your Apple Watch and accompanying iOS device.
As for musical sources, you can use your iTunes library or pair it with your Spotify account. You even have the option to have it automix if you find the screen too small or difficult to use in certain settings. The app allows you to do cue up and mix songs, add audio effects, loops in real time, and more. This application comes from a company called algoriddim and it’s available on the Apple App store now for $3 on the iPhone or $10 for the iPad version.
