Most people turn up to festivals to enjoy music and each other’s company. But there are the small minority of people who don’t share this opinion. These people come to rage in the worst possible way, with little to no respect for the venue or the organizers putting it together for them. CRSSD Festival in San Diego earlier this year has had its final tally of damages put together by the county and it’s… pretty, well, damaging.
The county of San Diego estimates that there was around $64,000 dollars in damage done to the local Waterfront Park. Michael Workman, a spokesman for the county, said that the cost of the damages will be paid for by the festival organizers. This bill also includes labor and supplies.
In contrast, the event organizers rented the park for an estimated $33,000, which is around one third of what park administrators hope to gain in revenue the rest of this year from renting the park.
The damages the county are claiming are:
- Around 500 plants expected to cost around $35,000 to replace
- Depressed turf and granite surfaces estimated to cost around $14,000
- Irrigation valves, heads, and leaks estimated to cost $6,000
- A sign in a childrens play park estimated to cost $2,000
