Which Game Of Thrones Character Is Your Favorite Genre?

Here at Dance Music Northwest, our message is to bring you the best in coverage of our fair region, extending past the normal clickbait of that plagues the EDM blogosphere. That being so, exceptions can be made when it comes to one of our staff’s favorite shows, Game of Thrones. Winter is coming and all of Westeros is on edge to see the story unfold. We held our own roundtable discussion about what each character from Game of Thrones would accurately represent in electronic music. Some of the results might make you upset, but please take this in stride; first and foremost our goal is to have fun with this. You too might find that some of these are frighteningly accurate.

[divider]1. Techno: Hodor[/divider]

This one is fairly obvious, given that Kristian Nairn is an actual DJ specializing in the more minimal of dance music. He even did a Rave of Thrones tour while on hiatus from Game of Thrones. Techno itself may have a devoted following, but it’s hard to deny it’s more… repetitive elements. Enter Hodor, reciting his trademark catchphrase over and over again, perfectly in time with the “unt-tss” beat of minimal music. Hodor, Hodor, Hodor, Hodor, Hodor, Hodor…

[divider]2. Trance: Ygritte[/divider]

Trance is such a beautiful and elegant genre with so many complexities it’s hard to fully appreciate until you become like John Snow and immerse yourself in it’s culture. Trance fans also see themselves as the highest form of electronic music and often let people who don’t listen to there genre know that they in fact “know nothing.”

[divider]3. Gabber Music: Joffrey Baratheon[/divider]

Nobody likes either of these excepting an extreme minority. “If seeing Oakenfold 3 fields deep at Creamfields in 98 is the closest thing you can get to heaven on earth, then gabber is some kind of vision of hell straight out of some mid-evil fresco” is how Noisy described the genre. This evil is personified in the eminently hateable Joffrey.

[divider]4. Dubstep: Sandor Clegane, “The Hound”[/divider]

The hound is a powerful force and he will eat all your fucking chickens. Just like dubstep, he is an aggressive and powerful force both feared and revered through out the realm, as the character we all love to hate and hate to love. You can’t settle your moral dilemma of actually liking him, but deep down inside you know you do.
