A couple of weeks ago a video of a belly dancer with amazing body art went completely viral. The fluid dance moves coupled with morphing and color changing patterns painted on the body had eveyone in awe, including us. Luckily we were able to get a hold of the owner of Meltamorphosis, Allie Hanlon, to ask a few quick questions about how this video has effected her and where the art form came from. You will definitely want to keep an eye out for her at some festivals this summer. Here is a look at the video, in case you missed it.

1. How did you get into body painting?
My earliest memories are of painting and my family’s love for art. Painting the human body in it’s natural state has always called me. Since 6 years old when I first painted the human body. I took a break from painting in my early twenties and started making clothing, hula hoops and bleach dying garments. I was also Airbrushing on clothing, living canvas became the next direction for me. I always enjoyed nature and math, so I focused mainly on geometric designs. While I was painting at Northern Nights last summer, I discovered that the color-changing lights used on art at festivals worked great with my art. I knew then I could apply that to my body-painting! 2CBEATZ’s show featuring Crazy Daylight was the debut of my UV 3D color-changing body art. I airbrushed beautiful girls, added 3D glasses and more lighting for an effect never seen before in body painting! Since then me and Will Erickson have been producing shows together as Beatz2Melt2.
2. Did you ever expect that video to go viral?
My body painting has been growing in recognition, but I had no idea that video would blow-up so fast. Everything changed overnight!
3. What has been the result of the video?
My UV Body paint video had over 500,000 plays and 1,000,000 [person] “reach”. Thousands of messages of love, appreciation and support from fans of my work. As well as a huge increase in the traffic on my page! going from 2,800 likes to over 7,000.
4. Do you provide your services at festivals?
I love Festivals! Last year I was body painting and exhibiting at Northern Nights, Esthetic Evolution, Konnexion, Beloved, Lightning in a Bottle (at a private artist camp!), Emissions, Photosynthesis, FreakNight, and Paradiso.
Lately I have been focusing on our own productions and events bringing in artists such as The Human Experience, JPOD, Indubious, Androcell, AtTyA, Kaminanda, Sabaqueous and Mat the Alien. BeatZ2Melt2 is bringing the artists Sol Rising and DJ StickyBuds this month. In May, WillDaBeast is headlining our Calendar Launch party.
The 2016 Beatz2Melt2 calendar features my airbrushing as well as the work of other Beatz2Melt2 artists such as 2CBEATZ, Raveology 101, Bubblegunk, Anchor Photography and many more wonderful artists of all varieties.
