In both dance music and the broader music industry, 2014 was the re-birth of the album. After dwindling sales numbers, and an industry shift to more consistent releases of single tracks, many were wondering whether or not albums were a legitimate means of releasing music in the Internet Era. Answering those questions in defiant fashion, 2014 saw many album releases, including some of the best dance music we’ve heard in recent memory. From deadmau5 and The Glitch Mob to Porter Robinson and Skrillex, we were treated to quality batches of tunes from some of our favorite artists.
Thankfully, this trend has continued into 2015. We’ve received lengthy works from some of dance music’s most popular artists, and the bar has been set surprisingly high for the rest of 2015’s albums. While we’re still waiting for albums from the likes of NERO, Zedd, and Dillon Francis, there’s been plenty to enjoy over the last few months.
Not only has there been a bunch of releases, but they’ve come from various styles of genres and artists. If you’re looking for some funky stuff, we got funky stuff. Need a little bass in your life? We got that too. Melodic masterpieces, check. We even have a little bit of Bieber. To help sort through all of the new tunes we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy, we broke down the seven albums that, of all of the dance music being tossed our way, need to be in your rotation.
Note: We considered albums that have been released in 2015 to be ‘new’.
