The Scumfrog & Simon Shackleton Are Going B2B On The Beach

There’s been quite a bit of buzz rattling the scene as of late, as two house music acts worshiped for their repertoire at Burning Man are both headed to Seattle for one of the most unique parties of the year. When we first saw The Scumfrog hint at a Seattle appearance on Twitter, we were downright flabbergasted – to whom of our cities’ booking agents deserved a gold medal? Had our many rants on repetitive and unadventurous bookings finally been answered? As time unfolded, we found out that not only was The Scumfrog indeed confirmed for a Seattle booking, but he will be playing a B2B set with Simon Shackleton – the enigmatic man behind Elite Force.

Both immensely prolific within the realms of tech-house, techno, breakbeats, and every other shadowed corner in between, both Simon Shackleton and The Scumfrog have garnered a devoted following from the underground scene. Among recent years, The Scumfrog kicked off Hot Since 82’s label Knee Deep in Sound with Send Wave and Shackleton awarded the 2011 Beatport title for top-selling breaks artist, while also running three award-winning labels. But it’s their DJ sets that really made an imprint on us. Often going for hours, we praise their impeccable ability to curate an atmosphere of tribal rhythmic energy while unearthing sonic gems that have other DJ’s clamoring for ID’s.

Offering a wildly unique alternative to the mainstream club circuit, this won’t be your ordinary dance party. Ian Powers has collaborated with Mafi Events and Opulent Temple to produce a one of a kind beach party experience. The crew will be importing truckloads of sand into Kings Hall, transforming the venue into the largest indoor beach oasis Seattle has ever experienced. Expecting over 1000 people to be in attendance, Sunshine 2015 will be a full scale production, with massive lighting equipment and high fidelity audio filling the space. With coveted locals like Gene Lee and Pinky Promise opening the night, sand between your toes, rum in your cocktail, and left shark costumes, we expect this to be one of the most talked about parties of the year.
