Dance Safe Founder Wants An MDMA Movie

The founder of DanceSafe, Emanuel Sferious, has taken up a campaign to create a documentary about MDMA through crowd sourcing. Emanuel Sferious founded DanceSafe in an effort to reduce harm in the rave scene throughout the country. So far, DanceSafe has operated with the sole purpose of providing truthful and accurate information to concert goers in an effort to reduce the proliferation of adulterated substances and prevent harm in the rave community. Emanuel Sferious has done so much to protect all of the young people in our community and now he is asking for your help in continuing those efforts.

The reason that Sferious is going through crowd sourcing is so that he will be able to provide an authentic view of the drug.

I don’t want to go to HBO or other networks to raise this money because with them there [are] always strings attached and I am not willing to sacrifice the integrity of this film. That’s why I want the funding coming from people who understand and who care and that means people like you.

As we all know, major networks can often misconstrue reality in order to create a better story. If you may recall, MTV decided to do a very one sided view of rave culture in their True Life “documentary” series. It makes sense that Sferious would be apprehensive of conventional financial means.

What Emanuel Sferious wants to make is a documentary that explores the history of MDMA, the therapeutic values of the drug, the recreational use of it, and the adjunct failure of the drug war.  His documentary includes an interview with the now deceased Sasha Shulgin, who is credited with the rediscovery of the MDMA compound in the 1970’s. Sasha Shulgin saw the potential that MDMA has in therapeutic healing for psychological disorders. He then passed it on to Dr. Leo Zeph, a psychologist, who in turn trained thousands of therapists around the world in how to use MDMA as a powerful therapeutic substance.

This unique perspective on what MDMA is and how it can benefit society is a project that could help open many eyes. Most importantly, it includes testimonies of PTSD sufferers who have been free of their condition after participating in an FDA approved study on the effectiveness of MDMA in treatment. The documentary also includes interviews with psychologists who were a part of the treatment process.

This movie will serve as a real and unadulterated piece on the truths of MDMA. The main problem that the electronic music scene faces as a community is that the mainstream media often vilifies our culture and subjugates us to the realm of out-of-control drug addicts. The potential to change the tide due the release of this film is enormous. It might have the same impact as “Reefer Madness”, in that it will wake people up to the audacity of the status quo. Watch the documentary snippets below and tell us what you think.

If you think that this movie will have a positive impact on the world, please go and help fund the project using this link.

Phillip was raised on so many different genres of music, it has given him a unique perspective into the ever evolving music scene. Trance music began defining his life at the young age of 14, but thoroughly enjoys any type of music equally. He sees the music as an escape from the daily doldrums of life and says music can change a persons life in an instant pulling from his own experiences. His only goal in life is to share wonderful music with people and take electronic music to a higher plain with more accountability and creating a safer environment for his friends.
