We’ve reached the point that while the draw of festivals comes from the artists, perhaps even more comes from the experience. Presales are commonplace, and massives like USC’s Lucky and Resolution sell general admission tickets prior to the announcement of any acts. Granted, Lucky’s lineup turned out to be incredible, but that’s beside the point. Sure, the production and venues are important, but on the whole, the appeal is you, the festival-goer.
The ‘We Are Revellers’ project wants to capture the draw you provide. Event photographers Kim Jay and Craig Shutko claim that at these events, attendees are “free to be themselves”, and “this sense of openness and rawness comes across strongly in the photographs.” In essence, ‘We Are Revellers’ aims to portray the humanity that shines through in larger-than-life festivals.

And, as if you needed another reason to go to Sasquatch, the project is attending and shooting there this May. Furthermore, the photographers have claimed that if you find them, they’d love to take your portrait, so seek them out at the concert! If having your essence being artistically represented at festivals is something you’re interested in, let us know in our comments, Facebook, or Twitter.
