Stricter Security Rules Than Ever For Resolution

Ever since the unfortunate cancellation of night 2 of Freaknight many of us had questions regarding what the future would hold for USC and WaMu/CenturyLink Event Center. We were relieved to hear that Resolution would be returning to WaMu, but couldn’t help but wonder what kind of agreements and new rules would be put in place in order to still be allowed to rage there.

Earlier this afternoon USC announced on their Facebook page and the Resolution website that enhanced security measures are being put in place for the newest iteration of Resolution, no doubt at the requirement of the NFL/First and Goal/CenturyLink Event Center. Almost immediately fans were up in arms over the changes, especially the banning of CamelBaks and restricting bags to the same requirement that they be clear and smaller than 12″x12″x6″. These changes were made to be in line with the same bag rules that have been in place for the NFL, but that doesn’t mean folks were pleased. Lockers that will be available OUTSIDE the venue were announced along with the news that clear bags will be sold outside for those who wish to be able to bring approved items inside. However, once you’re in the venue you can’t go back out to said locker until you’re leaving for the night. The traditional lockers will still be available inside as well, but bear in mind you can’t bring anything in the venue that doesn’t meet the rules, those items will need to be stored outside the venue.

USC's announcement isn't popular, but this is the world we live in now.

USC’s announcement isn’t popular, but this is the world we live in now.

The good news is that the (famous? infamous?) metal USC water bottles are still allowed in, as are other reusable bottles provided they are empty upon entry. Regarding other items that are popular at raves, LED flow toys and hula hoops are still allowed, but the rules make it clear that security has the final say on what they allow in the building. Glovers, sorry but your form of expression is still not allowed, but we’ve still seen gloves inside the venue so y’all must be finding clever ways to still be able to glove your hearts out.

With these new changes in mind, Dance Music Northwest wants you to be sure to still have a good time. We realize that there are going to be many eyes on the community come New Year’s eve so it’s on us to prove we can do this responsibly and deserve to still use WaMu as a venue. We’ve found a few options for bags that should still meet your needs while getting through security in a jiffy. We’ve also included the full list of what you can and cannot bring in to the venue directly from the website so you can be sure you’ve got all the info you need.

Lizzy has been raving since the wee age of 14 after being grounded for a month for having rave fliers in her bag. Like her other love, snowboarding, what was supposed to be "a phase" has become an essential part of her life and she is excited to see a new generation developing the same love.
