Insomniac Events ringleader Pasquale Rotella is penning a tell-all book, chronicling the rise of his company from its humble beginnings in the Los Angeles rave scene to the influential dance empire that it is today. He also dishes on rival promoter SFX in the upcoming book.
In a recent interview with THUMP, Rotella talks about the current state of the dance music industry and the few mega-conglomerates that own it. Rotella says he turned down a proposal from SFX offering him between $120 to $150 million for his company, fearing that it would’ve meant an early retirement for the dance mogul. Instead, Rotella signed a partnership with Live Nation. “The book will explain things that I think will really blow the minds of the people that really care about this culture. How SFX started, where Robert Sillerman got the idea from in the first place,” Rotella says in the interview.
There is so much that people don’t yet, and I’m still amazed that I was a small part of all those parts.
Rotella is receiving help from author James Frey of “A Million Little Pieces” with writing it. Possibly titled Insomniac, the book is slated to be released this May. Rotella also announced that he has a movie deal with Fox once the book is complete, which will undoubtedly be something to look forward to in the future.
