Freaknight weekend was filled with highs and lows for everyone. Friday night we were lucky enough to meet so many people having the time of their lives. So it’s no wonder that when the second night of FreakNight was canceled there was plenty of frustrated comments made towards USC Events, many of which were misplaced.
So how did their loyal fans respond? They let their freak flags fly. In a true embodiment of PLURR, people who support USC Events have changed their profile pictures to the USC rocket ship logo. It represents a few things for different people, but most of all it’s meant to be a representation of solidarity with the event organizer and its owners Chad Anderson and Doug McIntyre.
The flags are to represent those who want to show support for the dance music community in the Northwest. One of the pillars of dance music culture is Peace, from the acronym PLURR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect & Responsibility), and that is the basis for so many changing their profile pictures. They just want to give their “Peace” since there has been so much animosity in the cancellation of day two of FreakNight.
The events that unfolded following the cancellation of Day 2 of FreakNight were chaotic, frenzied, and led to more than a fair share of negative energy. Regardless of who upset the balance of that night (be it CenturyLink, the NFL, or USC themselves), in the end positivity begets positivity. The rocketships you see gracing your Facebook feeds reflect this idea.
