This past Sunday CirKiz hosted a Halloween party at a popular club in New York City for kids age 6-12. This wasn’t just any Halloween party, however. The afternoon party was a chance for kids to groove to electronic dance music. This includes strobe lights, a Glow Station for making kandi bracelets and necklaces, and a 100-foot LED video wall. Additionally, the Halloween event offered both DJ and dance lessons to the nearly 400 people in attendance.
After 20 years in the industry as a DJ, Jesse Sprague and his wife Jenny Song co-founded the cutting-edge organization CirKiz. They host parties each Sunday from 1-5pm.
Our events are designed to get kids out of the house and away from screens into a stimulating sensory environment where they can get some exercise dancing, interact with other kids and have a great time.
Dance parties for children in a club-atmosphere or kid-friendly EDM events are not new. Baby Loves Disco has been touring across the United States for almost a decade with 70’s and 80’s music. Gnar-BQ, the kickoff event to the Portland International House Music Conference, is a kid-friendly daytime event, but it is held in an outdoor park, rather than a nightclub. Even after just a few events, CirKiz has already been able to establish itself as a success in the new market.
