Firefly Music Festival, run by award-winning production company Red Frog Events, has made quite a buzz in the Festival world since it’s debut just three years ago. Their killer lineup the first year, with acts like Jack White, The Killers, and Bassnectar, along with an impressive 30,000 tickets sold, was just a preview of their future popularity.
Firefly Festival quickly caught the eye of Goldenvoice, the promotional agency responsible for Coachella, FYF in Los Angeles, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Music Festival. Instead of messing with the integrity of Firefly’s operation, Goldenvoice only suggested that they consider making their current locale in The Woodlands at Dover International Speedway more permanent. Considering that Goldenvoice has a lease with the speedway in Delaware until at least 2032, there’s a good chance we might see some permanent structure for Firefly Festival built here.
When you get a long term lease, it helps [because] you’re able to put in infrastructure and invest in long-term capital. It makes a festival better when you don’t have to tear up each year. When you’re on a year-to-year basis, you can’t really do anything too excellent on the site, because you never know if you’re coming back.-Paul Tollier (CEO of Goldenvoice)
Even though Goldenvoice has already acquired Firefly, they plan to invest in helping the festival thrive for many more years.
Red Frog will still operate Firefly because that’s what they’re best at and we will assist in any way we can, such as helping to access talent, sponsorships, and any tricks that we’ve learned along the way to help a festival get to the next level. We love the site, but what we really love is the staff [of Firefly]. We realized the staff is very similar to Goldenvoice, and that’s exciting.-Paul Tollier
It seems that Red Frog and Goldenvoice are a great match for each other, and we have a feeling that many surprises are in store for Firefly Music Festival 2015. If it doesn’t already hold a spot in your summer calendar, we deem Firefly Music Festival as more than worthy. What do you think of this new business collab?
