George and Jonathan are an American electronic music band made of George Michael Brower and Jonathan Baken. This duo falls into the “dare-to-be-different” category as they not only create music, they create bright and vivid visuals that can be manipulated by the viewer. Imagine TRON meets Guitar Hero meets a heart rate monitor screen – and it’s all set to a twinkling, spaced-out, electronic beat. The third album of George & Jonathan was released at the end of April and not only features 10 lo-fi electronic tracks, but doubles as a visual album online where visitors can tip, turn, and skew the images.
Each musical note is represented as a neon-colored line bouncing along a grid floating in space. The 3D visualization shows the change in pitch and rhythm, and the visitor can choose any perspective in which to view by simply using a mouse cursor. Sober or not, this is pretty cool stuff. George & Jonathan III is also available to stream and download as an audio-only experience. But why do that when there’s a 3D visualization of imagination? There’s also an amusing track dedicated to the days of “puppy love” where you can play whack-a-mole. George & Jonathan III is available on SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and Itunes.
