[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hile all of these festivals are either on the East Coast or up in the Great White North and are obviously very far (and sometimes expensive) to travel to, these are festivals you will not want to miss. The best part is: nearly all of these festivals you can volunteer at! That’s right, for a very small deposit (usually around $15-20), you can work either before, during, or after these festivals to gain free admission. You will get your deposit back if you are good and follow the rules (staying sober).
Most of these festivals will also plan around when you want to volunteer. Let’s say you want to see see a few bands on the 2nd day of one of these festivals featured below. You can work the majority of your shifts around then (most of the time) so you can catch the acts you came there to see. Whether or not you volunteer at some of these festivals, or you decide to go all-out and spend the cash to travel and buy your ticket, we know you will have a blast. Here’s 11 more phenomenal festivals worth adding to your bucket list. In no order:

Before we mention any of the bands and DJ’s performing, remember that this is the first year of The Hudson Project Music & Arts Festival. Various local and (hopefully) nationally-recognized artists will showcase their pieces and even create them onsite! They will also have carnival rides and other entertainment still to be announced. Some of the bands they have listed so far: Kendrick Lamar, Bassnectar, STS9, Modest Mouse, Moby, Big Gigantic, Excision, Atmosphere, Matt & Kim, Flying Lotus, Infected Mushroom, Holy Ghost!, Griz, Paper Diamond, AarabMuzik, Bro Safari, Kill Paris, Robert DeLong, Oliver, Keys N Krates, Tokimonsta, Kygo, Odesza. Project 46, and many more to be announced. That’s right – all those names in the first year of the festival is just Phase 1. This lineup is massive and we already know big things are in store for this festival in the years to follow.
As if all that isn’t enough to persuade you to attend this festival, some of the ticketing options are unlike anything we’ve seen yet. First they have the typical GA ($199-225), VIP ($500), and Platinum VIP ($750-800) options. Then they have the deluxe options of Glamping ($1,660-2,800 depending on what ticketing option you choose) which includes a prime camping location, and your bed and table is ready at your arrival. Just bring your clothes, towels, and everyday essentials and leave the rest at home! Here is our favorite ticketing option and something completely unique (as far as we are aware) – EZ Tent.
You get your tent, air-mattress, sleeping bags (yes, 2 sleeping bags) set up for you before you arrive, all of which are custom with ‘The Hudson Project’ logo and designs, plus a custom solar light so you can sleep safe at night. The kicker is you get to take all of this stuff home with you after the festival! The price with your ticket ranges from $910 (GA), $1,450 (VIP), $2,050 (Platinum VIP). They also have shuttle options from Philadelphia, New York, Albany, Burlington, and Boston that range from $35-90. Train options will also be announced soon.
