Pasquale Rotella shocked the dance music scene today, announcing the launch of Insomniac Records via Facebook. Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, is partnering with Interscope Geffen A&M, making it the first official EDM label under Interscope. Insomniac has been a longtime household name for many of us dance music fanatics, having exposed us to some of the world’s largest music festivals right here in the U.S. As of 2013, EDC ranked highest among dance music festivals globally based on daily attendance. Insomniac reported that EDC 2013 brought around 115,000 daily festival goers, resulting in a whopping total of 345,000 dancing bodies from all of our 50 states and over 46 different countries around the world (see the full economic analysis here).
Insomniac Records will be dedicated to fostering the unique talents of a select group of artists, and giving them a powerful platform on which to share their music with fans around the world.
Pasquale was very vocal about his desire to “create strategic partnerships” upon teaming up with Live Nation just last year. Utilizing Interscope’s two decades of music business expertise, Insomniac Records will be a dynamic pioneer to the dance music scene with staggering economic potential. This is an incredible trophied creation considering Insomniac Records is distributed by IGA, a subsidiary of international leading music corporation, Universal Music Group. First to join the label’s roster is Arty, who’s just released Up All Night. Listen below and join us in anticipation for future announcements!
