In the left corner we have what most call the originator of Funky Minimal, Portuguese producer Louie Cut. He’s been known to take over the Beatport Minimal House chart (14 tracks on the top 100 at one time… has that happened before for one artist??), began DJing back in 2006 and spawned his own record label in 2011, Strict Recordings. Most notably has been nominated by Beatport for “Track Of The Year” back in 2012 & 2013, with “Fat Bee” and “Right On Time” remix……..
In the right corner we have Liverpool Minimal producer Avrosse. Also a proud owner of his own record label, Droplet Music. In his spare time he likes to take long walks on the beach and walk his dog named Bingo. Actually that’s not true, we just couldn’t find much about him online so we decided to make that up. Regardless, Avrosse is also looked at as the “God” of Minimal Funk and together, Avrosse and Louie Cut take what they both know to the next level with their new collaboration The Thief.
The Thief automatically goes down in our books as a great track with successful sampling from one of our favorite movies Snatch. If you can name another artist who loves to sample Alan Ford’s famous lines, we’ll give you extra kudos. The Thief features an ensemble of glitchy bouncing sounds that accompany that signature minimal driving bass line. Quickly turning into a roller-coaster of funk, sporadic sample popping and whips, The Thief quickly becomes a favorite on your playlist.
