Milo & Otis, DJs and Producers that hail from Los Angeles, CA have quite the sense of humor. Describing themselves in their Soundcloud bio as a “Professional fake book writer and a leprechaun farmer who’s a gambler,” the two have obviously come a long way from their humble backgrounds. Skillfully merging trap, moombahton and electro house, the two do not hesitate to push the boundaries of sound and fall outside of what popular culture likes to hear. Listen to their track Love 2 Love U to truly hear the vast difference in sound between these artists’ mixes. A big room trap beat mixed perfectly under Donna Summer’s classic voice and jazz horns makes this track passionate, slow, and sexy.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Milo & Otis’s latest release Pigeons, available for free download on Soundcloud, expertly merges trap harmonics, high-pitched chords, and trademark pigeon coos and wing-beats into a track that soars and dives like the bird itself. Pigeons is a track that anyone can get down to on the dance floor, but also something completely new sound-wise that will shock and satisfy the musical entrepreneur in all of us.
