Throbbing some deep and funky bass, the collaboration EP between Simian Mobile Disco and Cosmin TRG proves to be a delicious treat for any listener. The EP is Simian Mobile Disco’s second Delicacies collaboration of 2013 and will be available for purchase on December 9th, or you can order the vinyl now.
For their second effort, Cosmin TRG was invited to help collaborate on a two-track EP. The tracks have been released through Simian Mobile Disco’s label Delicacies and keeping in line with the labels culinary theme, both tracks are named after strange recipes. Surströmming is a swedish plate that a press release suggests is “The most putrid smelling food substance in the world,” and “The burbling, queasy synth tones reflect the effects of this scent on all but the true connoisseurs.” Sannakji is a korean dish that sees octopus tentacles served while there’re still squirming. “The real challenge is to swallow them before the suckers tear chinks from your throat and mouth and mouth. Try not to think about the minimal melodic tendrils of the music forcing your cullet open as they attempt to climb out…” states the press release. Both songs are full of intensely well thought out production that sound equal parts expensive and luxurious. The only restaurant you could hear these songs at would be one at the end of the universe.
