Edmond Huszar, a.k.a. OVERWERK, delivered his new EP this week in the form Conquer. Edmond is a Canadian songwriter and producer known to the masses for his incredible work with electro-house remixes, mashups, and originals. At just 23, his sound is unmistakable and unique. Conquer reminds us just how powerful his music is. With a track list like Rise, Force, Control, and Conquer, we can speculate this has been his plan as a producer all along, and there is no doubt he has done an impressive job in seeing it through. Throughout the first two tracks we hear dramatic xylophone taps, tight knit synths, driving bass, insinuating that the take over is inevitable. Cue Nick Nikon in the third track, Control, and we have an almost celebratory anthem, reminding us that it’s “Mind over matter.”
Conquer hits hard with multitude of extraordinary synths that can only be truly felt while listening. At the three-minute mark, the song comes to an abrupt halt. Is it over? No wait, do you hear that? Ominous sounds and synths build the track back up from the ground in to a monumental masterpiece, solidifying what we already know, OVERWERK has done it again.
