In just a few short years, French wunderkind Madeon has sky-rocketed to the forefront of both dance and pop music. It all started when his 40-track mashup Pop Culture went viral on YouTube back in 2011. Since then, his cumulative efforts have led to worldwide acclaim, as well as being tapped to produce on Lady Gaga’s newest album, Artpop.
Still only 19 years old, he now sets his sights on a project far more personal: His first full-length album. Per an interview with MTV News:
I started working on my album and I’m gonna spend a good chunk of next year working on my album as well. It’s a nice toe in the water to see what the other side of the world beyond electronic music is like, ’cause ultimately I just want to do an album that people listen to at home and enjoy, not just in the club.
Madeon’s never let strict genre requirements define his music-making before, so you can bet his album will offer an eclectic relief from the mainstream offerings of his contemporaries. And if his Twitter feed is to be believed, it looks like he’s already hard at work.
Very good Madeon album day. A long way to go, but i know where i’m going.
