Earlier in the year, fresh from his recent work with Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers eluded to a studio collaboration with the breakout UK dance duo Disclosure. Today, the collaboration has been released. Fittingly the track is called Together and, to our surprise, doesn’t exclusively feature Rodgers but also Sam Smith (the “Latch” vocalist) and producer Jimmy Napes.
Together is a very different track from Disclosure’s catalogue. It has a much more funky feel, a laid back beat; the perfect soundtrack for chillin’ by the pool. The vocal arrangement is different from most of Disclosure’s other tracks. Its R&B smolder feels like a complete component of the song. In time with the song’s lazy beat, Smith croons with Rodger’s accompaniment, each component having equal time to soak up some sun. The track will soon be available through iTunes.
