Located just outside of Portland, the Campout Arts and Music Festival returns to Vernonia, Oregon from August 3-6.
A friendly backyard fest, Campout Arts and Music has a large variety of offerings from a killer lineup to great vendors, food, and much more. The festival boasts multiple stages, a swimming hole and lazy river, a painting and craft area, workshops & yoga, a funkadelic dance party, and a silent disco. There are several nighttime activities on Thursday at 10 following the opening ceremony.
Some interesting history
Campout Fest also has a fun history, as it originally started as a joint birthday party for twins Skyler and Kelsey 12 years ago. Their website mentions improving their production in the past couple of years, and how there is now a loyal group of individuals who consistently return to the intimate setting of Campout Fest.
Some workshops include a breathwork workshop, Ground into Gratitude yoga, Exploring Nature: A Plant Walk, mindfulness, mandala painting, and much more.
About the headliners
Some headliners from this year will be Stylust, Destructo, and Slynk. All of these artists have made a significant name for themselves within the electronic music world, and having them headline this festival will surely make for an unforgettable weekend. Destructo is known for dark house tunes and Stylust for drum and bass. Stylust also is an homage to the connection between the virtual world and the real world, even his name referencing a piece of technology—the Stylust.
Stylust has played numerous large festivals, such as Shambhala, and is known for his distinctive style. Some other notable artists that will be playing are um…, Downlo, and Rumpus among many others. These artists will certainly bring the wubs, and are thoughtfully curated and selected to make for a great experience.
This festival is special as well because it provides an intimate setting; there is something that is really memorable and fun about smaller festivals like Campout. In addition to this, there are also some local artists who will be performing, such as Aberz who s a native to the PNW region.

This festival is a PNW hidden gem, and amazing for anyone seeking a smaller and more intimate festival experience. It is refreshing to see these smaller festivals occurring at a time of intense commercialization of electronic music. Supporting these kinds of festivals is important to maintain equity and disassemble the monopoly of the live concert setting. Everyone should have the right to experience a music festival, and smaller festivals like this are doing a large portion to ensure this is possible.
