Have you been looking for an excuse to give back for the holidays and do good in the community? You should know about the Music’s in our Blood Drive, presented by Bloodworks Northwest, Seattle’s original dance music station C89.5, Seattle Theatre Group, and a host of other important Pacific Northwest companies and organizations.
The music-centered blood drive, running through December 31, 2022, has established a goal of donations from 20,000 new and re-engaged donors throughout the Puget Sound region. Major music artists like Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, Brandi Carlisle, and Kelsey Ballerini have signed on to Music’s in our Blood to promote the importance of donating blood.
You may not know it, but blood for medical procedures is in perpetual short supply across the country, especially during tragic events like the senseless shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs. Music’s in our Blood brings an excellent incentive to the table by pairing a much needed public health initiative with one of EDM’s premier musicians and noted activist, Sofi Tukker.
“This is an amazing event and we can’t thank Sofi Tukker, Neil and the whole crew at Punkdafunk artist management, and the folks at Bloodworks NW for putting this show together,” says C89.5 Program Director Ron Chatman. General Manager June Fox agrees. “We’re so pleased to be able to give back to our community and save lives through the simple, selfless act of blood donation.”
C89.5 has confirmed with DMNW that Sofi Tukker will be performing a special show at the Music’s in our Blood Private Donor Concert on January 5th. The first 400 people (ages 16-20) who donate blood using the code C895, at any Bloodworks NW location, will receive a ticket to attend this legendary event.
The Private Donor Concert happens the day after Seattle Theatre Group’s sold-out Soft Tukker show at Seattle’s Paramount, amidst a whirlwind world tour supporting their latest dance-party-friendly release Wet Tennis.
