On September 28th, The Midnight brought their Change Your Heart Tour to the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, and delivered a powerhouse performance.

If The Midnight somehow flew under your radar, let us be the first to tell you they are not a group to overlook. The Los Angeles-based synthwave duo Tim Daniel McEwan, producer, and Tyler Lyle, singer-songwriter, have been steering the helm of the retro synth genre’s comeback since 2014.
Now with four albums under their belt, most recently Heroes released on September 22, their Seattle stop was everything we had hoped for. They played plenty of tracks from their new album and reached back throughout their discography. Days of Thunder, one of the tracks that put them on DMNW’s map, was a highlight of the night.
Although they are officially a duo, McEwan and Lyle brought out three musicians to add another layer onto the live performance. Royce Whittaker and Leila Broussard, the duo also known as Jupiter Winter, alternated between keyboard and guitar, and vocals and bass. Justin Klunk (who also tours with Ariana Grande) also performed live another element crucial to The Midnight’s sound: the saxophone.
The opener for the evening featured Nightly, the indie pop trio based out of Nashville. They were the perfect opening band for The Midnight, featuring alternative and electro-pop beats that stirred the crowd.

The Paramount is set up perfectly to offer plenty of room whether it’s standing or sitting above on the balcony. With softer LED lighting and minimal production, the setup allowed the focus to remain on the live music.
The crowd danced and sang along with the vocalist, who was also singing their heart out. There were even several people with their own The Midnight jerseys at the front of the crowd. People were dancing, cheering, and laughing everywhere: it was an overwhelmingly positive experience.
