Fans of tightly-produced dance music and synthwave sounds are in for a major treat later this month, as Los Angeles synthwave masters The Midnight return to the Pacific Northwest! The Midnight, comprised of producer Tim Daniel McEwan and singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, will be bringing their Change Your Heart Tour to Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on Sept. 28, courtesy of STG Presents.
The Midnight, known for their rich electronic productions slathered with nostalgic electronic tones and eminently singable melodies, are coming off the success of their highly-acclaimed Horror Show EP. The EP has a decidedly Stranger Things and 80’s horror vibe, but even that fails to fully encapsulate it.
In addition to a dreamy electronic remix of Bruce Springsteen & Patti Labelle’s Because The Night – complete with The Midnight’s trademark saxophone licks – the Horror Show EP contains the best musical 1-2 punch The Midnight have ever produced, Ghost in Your Stereo & Neon Medusa.
The Midnight are also mere days away (Sept. 9) from releasing their next full-length album, Heroes. A few tracks from the album are in pre-release status, including Heartbeat, with an opening synth line that brings to mind the iconic opening of Van Halen’s Jump. We expect to hear plenty of selections from Heroes at the Paramount show, including many we haven’t yet heard.
You can pre-order Heroes here.
Whether you’ve been a fan of The Midnight since Days of Thunder or are just learning about them for the first time, you’d be hard-pressed to find music with a more appealing mix of searing melodies, forward-thinking production of classic sounds, and generous touches of modern American nostalgia.
DMNW is beyond excited for this show, which also features opener Nightly, and to celebrate that, we’re looking to give away two pairs of tickets to lucky readers! Check out the giveaway below to enter — we’ll see you there!
