Canadian electronic superstar Rezz is coming to the Wamu Theater on May 13th for her Seattle stop on her Spiral album tour. To help you learn a bit about all of the amazing acts of the night, we have compiled a small biography for each of them to give you a little taste of what you’ll be getting into.
A Hundred Drums
First up, from Denver Colorado, we have Gabrielle Watson, known as A Hundred Drums. Since 2006 she has been making an intense style of instrumental bass music with a major focus on unique percussion selection and a deeply primal feel. She has earned some big recognition recently with her Enough is Enough EP being released on Deadbeats records, and is now touring with one of the biggest names in the world’s electronic scene. With influences from genres like reggae, downtempo, old-school dub, and psytrance, she is sure to be a perfect opener for this superb lineup.
Of the Trees
Next up from Portland, Maine we have Of the Trees, who began making electronic music back in 2015 and has been turning heads and opening minds ever since. In the past few years alone he has played at festivals like Wakaanfest and Electric Forest and has even started his own music label, Memory Palace.
He has built his musical career off of his seamless blend of the sounds of nature and deep vibrating basses accompanied by melodies and effects that come together to create beautiful audio environments that envelope one into a zen-like state. His recent EP The Tale of Elegos should provide some chill vibes that will prime everybody just right for our next act, who will be sure to turn up the heat a bit.
Eprom
For our next artist, we have the wobbly bass master, Eprom. Signed to international record label Rwina Records, and one-half of the duo Shades, he is a staple of the west coast bass music scene. Eproms’ songs feature both smooth evolving sounds and raw distorted basses that baffle the mind and titillate the senses. With influences from grime, garage, hip hop, and dubstep, Eprom has a wide spectrum in his collection fit for any occasion.
His sounds are well-accompanied by a visual style reminiscent of what one might call a “techno renaissance”. Some of his latest releases include the singles Fleshnet and Secret Technique and his latest album titled Aikon.
Rezz
Finally, we have the woman known to many as Space Mom. With a following that is self-titled as a cult, she is everyone’s favorite hypnotizing downtempo superstar and a two-time Juno award winner: Rezz.
Isabelle Rezazadeh is the youngest member of her hometown Arts and Culture Hall of Fame in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and has been hypnotizing listeners since her Insurrection EP in 2015. Since then, her career has skyrocketed straight into the stratosphere. Within just a few years, she has been signed to Mau5trap records, released the wildly popular full-length album Mass Manipulation, and has released three more incredible follow-up efforts.
This epic path to success was paved by her unmistakable sound and style. The brain-tickling downsampled basses and meticulously placed repetitions of sounds in her songs are said to put people into a trance-like state. Her visual presentations are filled with dark psychedelic patterns and beautifully eery scenes that leave one speechless and dazed. Her featured tour album Spiral gives us a much more lyrical and emotional side of her production style.
This should be a night full of soul-shaking subtonal sorcery that people will be talking about for a long time. Be sure to listen to all the artists performing and get your tickets now.
