If you attend shows in the Seattle area, you have probably heard of Seattle Theatre Group (STG). STG operates three venues including the Paramount, Moore Theatre, and Neptune.
Last Thursday, STG announced some major news that many saw coming in light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis: They will be reducing staffing for shows and the company.
The company will also postpone announcements for 2020 and 2021 performing arts season lineup according to the Seattle Times article. Around 70% of the staff at STG will be put on furlough; the staff count at STG will go from 206 to 61 employees. In addition, employees who earn over $60,000 annually will take a salary cut. Big changes are happening and gearing up for round two of COVID.
As we start to see states such as California closing down again, we are quickly prepping for another round of the Coronavirus outbreak. With so many lost jobs, we’re hoping that round two will give us mercy and pass by quickly. We are standing with our Seattle music family and together we will get through this!
