Emerging from the ocean’s dark and murky depths comes The Rising, the sophomore album from PNW native Beauflexx. Swimming with bass, this seven track album is making tidal waves as it crashes onto shores all around the world. As a bass fueled artist from Spokane, Beauflexx influences and inspires much of the EDM community there. In fact, Beauflexx actively promotes and hosts shows via his own event production company, Partybros. Channeling his love of music and bringing people together, Beauflexx’s sound is its own experience. Listening to The Rising left us trembling, and that calls for a DMNW review!
While most of The Rising touches on various genres, there is no denying that Bomb is the first explosive track on this LP. Beauflexx blends and chops harmonious vocal samples with high pitched synths throughout, giving it a slightly futuristic feel. Each drop is uniquely different, with the finale laying into some hyphy drum and bass. Be wary of the blast zone when Bomb goes off; it’s sure to annihilate anything in its path!
One track worthy of any club set is Doo Doo featuring The Jamaican. Listening to this track feels as if you’re climbing a musical roller coaster, inching towards the drop. With a quick buildup of rattling drums and knocking bass, our blood pumps as we head to the very top. Waiting on the other side is an unexpected world of quick, pounding drums and all the wobbles, ready to whisk you away! One of two collaborations on The Rising, Doo Doo features fellow local Spokane artist The Jamaican. His influence is heard through out this track, adding an immersive and groovy touch.
Now is not the time to get comfortable, for next up comes On Their Head, and it wont leave anyone standing still. With an intense build up that’s sure to increase your anxiety, this track stands out on The Rising. Falling into a much darker vibe at the drop there’s a low bass beat looped, sounding off like a siren. Beauflexx showcases his own innovative style by producing a hard-hitting beat with out necessarily making it loud.
Next up from The Rising is Like Dis, with an electric feel Beauflexx manages to warp us into a hypnotic track. Wide, deep bass lines accompanied by chopped vocals that drop in and out confuse and contort until they ultimately sync into one epic drop. On a much softer note is Follow Me, featuring haunting and beautiful vocals that echo with absence. While definitely not the hardest track on this LP, Follow Me carries so much affection within it. Definitely a great representation of Beauflexx’s ability to blend softer tones with bass in his own personal style.
Nearing the end of this dynamic LP comes two stirring tracks, All The Time and Ready featuring Foxtale. With a certain bouncy movement to its beat, All The Time will make make you want to move. There is a certain pulse to this grimy track that you don’t want to miss! The last collaboration on The Rising is Ready with local Spokane artist Foxtale. Only the best vibes will be found here among the wook-like wobbles and playful sounds. Beauflexx’s personal sound and production ability have grown a ton since his Kraken EP and we can’t wait to hear what comes next!
