Last year dance music publication Mixmag and Budweiser teamed up to initiate a global series of events called BUDX. The duo began their global search for, “the best and freshest music, culture and art from every corner of the planet.” BUDX events highlighted various sectors of music, art, technology, fashion and film from rising cities within the art and music worlds. They brought in global headliners and showcased local talents to add to the fun. Today comes the launch of Mixmag and BUDX’s new documentary project, Kings of Culture.
BUDX events cultivated waves of musical influence, while experiencing, and sharing, some of the world’s incredible cultures. One of their main goals? Opening up channels for communication on how music influences the world on a larger scale.
In a special five-part series, the Kings of Culture documentary will showcase Mixmag and BUDX’s efforts to spotlight their travels- covering fast paced, vibrant cities far and wide.
The Kings of Culture documentary kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City, where electronic music lovers thrive within the city’s vibrant fashion and graffiti scene. Next they take off to Lagos, where Nigerian fashion is on the rise and the importance of dance reigns supreme. Fittingly they visit the progressive city of Amsterdam and it’s legendary 24-hour club scene. Finally the series ends in Mumbai, marking the special event of their newly launched Lab BUDX Edition.
Mixmag and BUDX presenting The Lab Mumbai creates a brand new location focused on showcasing the finest local and international and local talent.
The Kings of Culture documentary is set to be released over the next five weeks. It’ll take viewers into the world of the Westsyde Lifestyle dance crew from Lagos and showcase acclaimed artists and designers Danny Daos and Quang Minh and their boundary pushing designs in Ho Chi Minh City. You can learn the origin story of Amsterdam streetwear brand Patta, and how their designs went worldwide. Lastly Kings of Culture ends in Mumbai, with the magnetic people behind Inclnk Records.
