Toronto based DJ Hunter is the beating force behind No Neon, recently celebrating 5 years of legendary events. Taking his fans to the darker spaces between house and techno, Hunter has been building up to release a brand new EP, titled I Might Forgive I Don’t Forget.
Adding to this excitement is No Neon’s transition into a record label, on which Hunter’s new EP will be it’s first release. We had the opportunity to preview I Might Forgive I Don’t Forget and we were blown away. Each track is unique and fully formed, and in typical techno fashion average around 7 minutes in length. This three track EP showcases Hunter’s fully formed, futuristic and definite techno sound.
Leading us on a mysterious journey The First Time opens up with a compelling beat that drives through the track. It features shadowy vocals that echo alongside haunting, glassy keys that ring out giving this track a hypnotic touch. Next up is Away Too Long, feeding into a more advanced and futuristic feel with it’s deep and dramatic beat. There is a lot of depth to this track, giving off a very emotional and expressive vibe. It carries the sounds of searching synths that give you a feeling of longing, like you’ve been away too long. This track is well arranged and continuously builds into a beat that will make you want to move.
Nearing the end of the journey comes the non stop track I Don’t Forget featuring Roshin. With a marching beat and some seriously acid dripping tones this dark banger is bound to electrify the club. As Hunter preluded his upcoming EP by dropping I Don’t Forget early, he even filmed an inside look on the production of this track. Done for his new Youtube series “The Making Of”, it features an interview with Roshin as they dive into the creative process behind it all.
Get ready for I Might Forgive I Don’t Forget to drop on January 24th, bringing heavy and expressive techno to us all.
