Seattle Illenials will unite in just about a week for two nights of what is set to be a magical, melodic journey to say the least. Following the announcement of Illenium’s third studio-length album, ASCEND, he shared plans to embark on a fall tour of its namesake.
Now, waiting with bated breath, his ever-growing fan base in the Northwest simply can’t contain their excitement and are more than ready to dive head first into his Ascend Tour Show kicking off on Wednesday, November 27th. That will be followed by a special Throwback set closing things out on Friday, November 30th at WAMU Theater.
If there’s any time melodic bass fans can give thanks, it’s now. But, along with Illenium, comes the opening acts for both days, which we might dare to say, give the Denver DJ a run for his money and will definitely make the sad boi fest complete. And with that sentiment, comes the inevitable urge to delve further into the preacts and explore their own musical paths further. So, let’s take a close look at the other artists who will be bringing their music to the NW next week:
William Back
Demonstrating his love and passion for melodic bass, William Black recently released a new album entitled Pages, which is an absolute tear-jerker of an album. Starting his production career in 2017, Black has truly made his mark in the melodic bass scene, performing with other huge names such Seven Lions and Said the Sky, another artist who will be performing on the 30th (and without a doubt lending his piano talents to Illenium’s set as well).
William Black is probably most known for his huge melodic anthem Take Me with the awesome vocals of RUNN. Focusing on emphasizing electronic melodies with sounds of acoustic guitar and vocals, every track he produces evokes a multitude of emotions, weaving a story with every note and tugging at your heartstrings as you bounce along to every beat. If you’re thinking, “well, nothing can get better than that,” wait until you hear the next artist that will take to the stage following William on Wednesday.
Dabin:
Dabin earned a name for himself with his debut album, Two Hearts back in 2016. He then released his two-track Pyres EP (part of his latest album, Wild Youth too), which went viral. Ever since, Dabin has been one of the hottest names in melodic bass, with fans raving about his EDC LV 2018 set, in which he previewed his two biggest hits from 2018 – Superstar with Said The Sky, and First Time with Seven Lions and Slander.
Dabin grew up playing and performing music all his life. His musical background of blues, indie and folk music influenced the melodic and rhythmic nature of his productions. His ability to rock the stage with live guitar every time he emerges is absolutely captivating, and getting to witness a musician of his caliber will be amazing enough in itself. Also, it is worth noting that his newest release, his collab with Jason Ross, One That Got Away is an incredibly beautiful track.
