French duo Justice has been hard at work on a film titled “IRIS: A Space Opera”, and this past week they announced that the film will premiere at SXSW on March 13th.
According to the festival’s website, the film was recorded in an “empty and invisible space” to allow the audience to focus on the music. Though they recorded without an audience, the film is intended to recreate the production experience of the Women Worldwide tour. The production centers around a dynamic floating platform that evolves alongside the set. Directors Andre Chemetoff and Armand Beraud are behind the film.
Based on the short teaser they’ve released on Youtube, it looks like the film capitalizes on the futuristic aesthetics of the platform. The brief snippet simultaneously evokes both new sci-fi films, like Interstellar, and the classic sci-fi films of the 1980s, à la Star Wars. Check out the trailer below, and see the SXSW website for more information.
