First off, let’s clarify a few things – although we didn’t go to the inaugural festival in 2008, we’ve heard enough stories (good and bad) to put to rest what the haters had to say about the return of Pemberton Music Festival. Second, those same people that went in 2008 automatically thought the festival would be exactly what they remember it years ago (Live Nation put on the event in 2008 with HUKA Entertainment taking the reigns in 2014). Some of the complaints people described: The festival was a gigantic dust pit, they had horrible food, and the lines to get into the dance tent, bathroom and bar were ridiculous. When talking about the bands that played, the dissenters didn’t have much to say. Almost all of the acts that played back then are still around and are highly successful to this day.
To anyone still skeptical, we experienced the resurrection this year and can say you may want to reconsider going again. Since 2008, there have been many changes inside and around the festival grounds, including improved roads and less dust, thanks to some planted grass. We were a little worried about the revival of Pemberton due to lack of updates. Even some of the 360 degree views online of the site looked bare, just days before the festival. All that worrying was put to rest when we got off the shuttle and saw it firsthand. Be prepared for Pemberton Music Festival to be bigger and better over these next several years, not only with the lineup, but also what promoters might have in store for the festival grounds.
