The barrage of live-sets from Shambhala Music Festival is one of our favorite aspects of the one-of-a-kind event. Dozens of artists, from each of the six stages at the annual summer festival, release the recordings of their performances at Shambhala throughout the months that follow. This wonderful tradition allows those of us who were at the festival to re-live the memorable experiences of the weekend, while also giving those who were unable to attend a taste of the festivities.
There seem to be more sets released each year, and fans were given a special treat following the 19th edition of Shambhala this summer. We can always count on sets from the likes of Excision, The Funk Hunters, Stickybuds, and more. But, Shambhala went all-out in 2016, and delivered a full-set from one of the biggest names on the lineup: Sub Focus.
Sub Focus, also known as Nick Douwma, has been at the forefront of the UK drum & bass scene for years. Making his Shambhala-debut, the Englishman featured on a lineup full of incredible drum & bass artists. Andy C, Roni Size & Krust, Liquid Stranger, TC, and more provided a DnB-fueled weekend of fun at The Village this summer.
Of all the possible sets, we’re happy that Sub Focus’ entire performance was recorded in HD by the wonderful people at Shambhala Films. The set from Sub Focus is the premiere in a series of full-set recordings.
Sets like this are what make Shambhala such a special place. Having a full-set, from one of dance music’s top artists, at The Village no-less, is something everyone can get behind. The video is an amazing glimpse into what it’s like to experience the unique atmosphere of Shambhala. Sub Focus put-on one of our favorite sets of the entire weekend, and we’re gladly among the masses who are grateful for the opportunity to re-live it over and over again.
