Rain City Rock Camp For Girls
One of our favorite acts of Sasquatch had no set time; no stage design. They only had a tent and a powerful cause: To build positive self-esteem in girls and encourage creative expression through music. Rain City Rock Camp for Girls is a non-profit education program based out of Seattle that was designed with girls in mind. The program “fosters leadership, encourages social change, and cultivates a supportive community of female peers and mentors” both in and outside music education. Rain City Rock offers workshops for all ages and skill level, and they offer financial aid to the families in need. There are also plenty of ways to get involved to support their cause, including attending their annual Gala and auction event, volunteering, interning, or even donating funds, equipment and instruments they will be more than eager to receive. The music industry is far from balanced on every level. Rain City Rock is hoping to change not only the presence of women in music, but to help encourage and empower girls to believe in themselves, to go for their dreams, and to flourish. We salute each and every woman (and man!) involved in the program and we can’t agree more that the worlds needs more women who rock.
