If you’ve been around the scene for a while, you may remember Pemberton as a festival with a bit of a history. Located just north of Whistler, the original Pemberton Festival, which was produced by a different company than the one today, cancelled back to back events in 2009 and 2010 and left attendees of the inaugural 2008 event scratching their heads as to why. Thankfully, HUKA entertainment decided to step up and take control in 2014 and give a much needed boost to the tarnished name.
Clearly they’re on the right track, as last year Pemberton was only slightly edged out by Squamish in terms of attendance, attracting 115,000 people over the 4 days of festivities. While you’ll find just as many A-list names on the bill as other festivals in the PNW, EDM fans will be pleasantly surprised as the lineups at Pemberton historically include a larger portion of dance music than their regional counterparts!
