A little bit rock, a little bit synth, The War on Drugs have been making music together since 2005, and yet sometimes their sound comes across as something that wouldn’t be out of place in a hazy bar in the 1980’s. Other times they sound incredibly modern on tracks such as Baby Missiles with the heavy synth intro. Comprised of Adam Granduciel, David Hartley, Robbie Bennett, and Patrick Berkery, The War On Drugs will make for a very interesting experience on Sunday night.
We strongly encourage you to enjoy the guitar and synth but don’t get lost in it or you’ll miss the depth of the vocals. Listening to the lyrics will be an important part of your journey with The War on Drugs on Sunday, as songs like Taking The Farm have an upbeat tempo that cleverly hide the subject matter of a love that is doubted. Giving away too many of the lyrically secrets would ruin the surprises of so many of their songs, but we hope you heed our warnings and open your ears to enjoy the extra layers within their music.
War on Drugs will be performing at 6:30 PM on Sunday, July 27th on the Main Stage.
