[divider]1. THE SPLIT (AND REUNION)[/divider]
The trance community was stunned back in 2008 when Gabriel & Dresden announced their departure from the journey they’d been on together for almost 8 years. Citing a need to “examine (themselves) as artists,” they took some time to do some soul searching, and in the end were triumphantly reunited in 2011.
Before the split, we had been together in the same room or at a show nearly every day for 6 straight years. We were finding it harder to communicate in the studio and knew we needed a break. We definitely learned a lot of things over the break that have helped us in our post reunion music. We learned what we like and do not like in a collaborator, how to communicate in the studio better, trust our individual strengths and which battles need to be fought and which don’t.
Having taken over the scene in the three years since their reunion, Northwest fans have been treated to plenty of their presence, with two Foundation Nightclub shows last year to go with their billing on Freaknight 2013’s stunning lineup. Now we’re about to be treated to one more, where we’ll get to see again why their new vision only serves to make them stronger.
