[divider]1. THE COMPLETE LIVE EXPERIENCE[/divider]
The habit of many artists on tour is to dart from festival to festival and venue to venue with the same hour of music in tow and little else. And why wouldn’t they? A “normal” schedule affords a DJ little time to do anything but perform, jump on a plane, and make their way to the next city. But Tritonal, despite their 6-day work week and admission that “tour life is a grind,” manage to not only keep all their sets fresh and unique, but also provide the full live experience that goes so far beyond just the music.
The long and short of it is that the duo is “running visuals from stage. Everything that you see is synced from one place.” Where most acts will allow a VJ down below take the wheel, Tritonal instead chooses to deliver an unparalleled visual experience.
If you’re the artist and this is your moment, why would you only want to be controlling 50% of what people are perceiving? A lot of it is what you’re looking at. There’s something special that happens when you connect visually and auditorily at the same time. There’s just something that happens that’s magic when those two things line up.
After sharing a laugh about whether or not “auditorily” was in fact a word (the group consensus was that “orally” worked better), Chad and Dave went on to intimate that the self-run visuals really come down to wanting to “enhance our performance altogether.” Featuring a flurry of stunning fractals, spinning lyrics, and skillfully timed transitions, it was clear that their mainstage set in the late afternoon accomplished just that.
