[divider]WHAT TIDAL IS TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH[/divider]
Tidal is attempting to do several things, but a few of their goals stand out. A major emphasis is shifting the conversation about music streaming. Not working with the premise of “people want music for free and can get if for free, so give it to them for free”, Tidal wants to put the artists at the fore of their service.
You pay $9.99 for Spotify, so why not $9.99 for Tidal. We’re not asking for anything else, we’re just saying that we’ll spread that money to artists more fairly. We’re not saying anything other than that, and we’re saying that we’re in a position to bring light to this issue. We’re using our power that way. – Jay Z
In essence, Tidal is attempting to be more than just a music streaming service. Similar in the way it takes a little more effort and output in order to recycle, than it does just to throw stuff away, Tidal wants to work toward a better future by affecting those with the most influence: the fans.
We want to grow the market, we want to allow the content creators to have better control over the distribution of the art, and we want the tides to rise with everybody. – Schlogel
When asked how he hopes Tidal will impact younger generations, Jay Z pointed to improve the quality of life, the level of art, and building up music again. In the end, Tidal wants to be a success story that everyone involved (artists, fans, and labels) can benefit from.
