[divider]2. HEADLINERS WE WON’T SEE ANYWHERE ELSE[/divider]
An aspect of the Paradiso headliner that plays a major role in the annual summer festival’s success isn’t just bringing the big names we want to see, but bringing the acts we otherwise wouldn’t see. Outside trips to EDC, Ultra, and the like, many of the Paradiso headliners of the past are acts that, at least in the Northwest, are rare treats.
In 2012 Avicii, Afrojack, and Knife Party seemed like a dream, and if that was a dream, 2013 was an alternate reality, featuring two of dance music’s demi-gods in Kaskade and Tiësto. Although both Kaskade and Tiësto were slated to return for FreakNight 2014, their inclusion as headliners at Paradiso 2013 turned heads. The 2014 group of headliners featured four acts who had all performed in the Northwest within the previous year, nobody was complaining about catching Bassnectar and Zedd’s debuts at The Gorge.
Despite their impressive track-record when it comes to big names we haven’t seen, it’s obvious that the Paradiso 2015 headliners take the cake. The most recent Northwest show for any of the 2015 headliners is Dash Berlin’s performance at FreakNight 2013, as Alesso’s scheduled set was cancelled on the second day of FreakNight 2014. Armin van Buuren hasn’t graced the Northwest with his presence since 2012, and same goes for Skrillex, while Martin Garrix will be making his debut in our corner of the country. Paradiso is living up to it’s reputation of featuring the biggest and the best, and 2015’s headliners are the latest example of USC Events achieving just that.
