Winter in the Pacific Northwest can usually be summed up with one word; wet. For many of us here it’s easy to catch a case of the blues and miss basking in the warmth of the sun. Gone are the days of shorts, t-shirts and, our favorite summertime festivals. We’ve now stepped into the time of year where we dawn our winter rain gear and brave the cold. With summer still roughly 6 months away, we’ve got a few summer time mixes to get you through the winter.
SNBRN: Weekend Workout Episode 150
First off, with a name like SNBRN we can’t help but feel a little warm inside. Relatively new to the scene, Kevin Chapman created a name for himself rather quickly with a series of viral remixes and covers. Earlier this year he released Raindrops on Ultra Records and has made his rounds on the music festival circuit. The LA based DJ and producer dropped this lovely mix earlier this year on Felix Cartel’s Soundcloud page and will for sure bring the summer time vibes to your ear buds.
Neon Steve: Pleasensations Vol.4
Neon Steve has been injecting British Columbia for quite sometime with his take on underground bass mixed with blasts from the past. The caption for this mix says it all “May it be the soundtrack to all of your summer shenanigans :)”. The peer-declared Shambhala resident DJ is always known for his good time vibes and with sets spanning from mellow to wild. We were lucky enough to be at Shambhala this year and caught his set in the Fractal Forest, and look forward to returning in 2016. But for now, enjoy his latest Pleasensations mix.

Kygo: Thomas Jack Presents: Kygo – Tropical House Vol.6
Honestly, we feel it would be pretty much impossible to talk about the summer and not include Kygo. This past year has been quite the year for the 24 year old Norwegian, headlining some of the biggest festivals of the summer. His single Firestone could possibly be considered one of the top 10 songs of the summer with over 332 millions plays on Spotify. It’s no wonder this mix brings back memories of the summer, so enjoy…and good luck sitting still.
Autograf: Fixtape Vol. 44
This trio from Chicago has one mission; creating future-house for the future summer. Autograf is yet again another group that has popped up in scene, made famous with a storm of tropical remixes. With remixes of Lorde’s – Team or The Griswold’s – Beware the Dog, Autograf has slowly but surely been making a name for themselves as another sound of summer. This mix comes fresh off a special series highlighting artists playing this year’s SnowGlobe Music Festival in Lake Tahoe, Utah. If you haven’t made plans for the new years, or still have that music festival itch you won’t want to miss this one. If you’d rather stay home, warm and dry, push play on this one and relive those summer memories.
Bonus: Jack Ü – Diplo & Friends
While this mix is nearly a year old, it would be impossible not to include it here. This summer, without a doubt, was one for the records books for Diplo and Skrillex duo, Jack Ü. The pair have been to every major festival across the globe and seem to never stop. Their self titled album has been on repeat at nearly every bar and club making it impossible to not hear Take Ü There or Where Are Ü Now.
We hope these mixes help get you through the winter, and all of us here at DMNW are looking forward to the return of festival season. Undoubtedly there are more mixes to be added to this list, we just picked a few of our favorites. Feel free to tell us which ones we’re your sounds of summer by replying to us on Twitter or leaving a comment on our Facebook.
