Club cancels headliner for launch party due to hotel issues
In a social media feud, UK nightclub Abstrakt and DJ Jeremy Underground have shared their thoughts on why the upcoming headlining show for the artist was canceled earlier this week. Huh.
Originally slated for the premier performing slot at the club’s launch party, Abstrakt took to their Facebook account to announce the cancellation of the show. Citing ‘ridiculous demands’ while posting photos of exchanges with Underground’s management, the club signed up a TBA headliner, while getting the hours for the night extended to 4 a.m. Abstrakt is also offering ticket rebates to those who purchased tickets at the original price.
Responding on his own Facebook account, twice, Underground took the time to apologize to fans and the club, while rightfully calling-out his agency for their poor conduct. Without the attitude from Underground’s agents, it’s far less likely the show cancellation turns into such a big, public issue. Here’s hoping the two sides can work things out, and Underground performs at Abstrakt sometime in the future.
Some artists’ struggles are bigger than others, as we learned last week. What we’ve yet to learn, is if a club can survive a night of 10 bpm dance music. We’ll get the answer to that by the end of the month in Copenhagen, if Greta Eacott has anything to say about it. It was anohter interesting week in EDM, as they all tend to be. Let us know which stories in EDM made you go “huh?” last week! Comment below, on Facebook, or reply on Twitter!
