Listen up Seattle! Zeds Dead is going on tour and they’re coming back to Washington state for another year! In just one month, the DeadBeats tour will venture to Seattle to bring us some serious heat. With support from Rusko, Droeloe, Gentlemens Club, and LICK, we are certainly in for a treat.
Allow us to break down the roster and prepare you for a night to remember:
Zeds Dead
Commonly known by their stage names DC and Hooks, the two makes up the Toronto-based duo Zeds Dead. They have been at the forefront of electronic dance music with their dynamic and forward-thinking sounds that crosses over genres and surpasses expectations.
They also founded one of Canada’s most storied club nights: Bassmentality. Initially held in the tiny basement of 751, rapidly increasing crowds prompted the duo to relocate it to Toronto’s Wrongbar, where the they booked big names such as Skrillex, Borgore, and Nero. Zeds Dead have gone on to tour the world, headlining thousands of festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Osheaga, HARD, Ultra, Tomorrowland Belgium, and more. They also took over the biggest stages in India, Asia, & South America. Zeds Dead have also launched their own event, the annual Deadrocks at the famous Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater.
Zeds Dead’s high-intensity live performances never ceases to captivate their ever-growing fanbase, dubbed Zeds Dead Family. Their entire discography is a showcase for the group’s musical genius and signature sounds that are entirely their own. Their first full length studio album, Northern Lights, that was released back in 2016 under their own record label, DeadBeats, still stands as a timeless work of art. The album offers a little bit of everything. It is the child of years of collaboration and hard work, and as such it captivates a lot of complex emotions with a hint of nostalgia.
“It’s music that works best at night. The northern lights are something beautiful and vibrant coming out of the night sky,” explains DC. “That contrast provided the framework for the album.”
Rusko
Having been in the scene for almost a decade, the UK-born producer is considered one of the pioneers of the rise of dubstep from it being an underground genre in London to now an international phenomenon. Christopher Mercer, aka Rusko, recently released a five-song EP titled MEGARAD under the Deadbeats imprint. From dubstep to drum and bass, the EP proves the music producer’s versatility within bass music. On top of that, Rusko tried his hand at hardstyle by collaborating with Ducky at the Sound-Bar in Chicago.
Droeloe
Hailing from The Netherlands, producer Vincent Rooijers and visual designer Hein Hamers make up the duo named DROELOE. They manage to strike the perfect blend of percussion-heavy sounds and intricate melodies with their music, accompanied by stunning visuals to form a cinematic sound experience for fans. They have successfully performed at major festivals such as Okeechobee, BUKU, Coachella Do Lab, EDC Las Vegas, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and more. They released their sophomore EP The Choices We Face and subsequently launched their debut headlining North American tour in the fall of 2018.
Gentlemens Club
The UK-based trio last visited Seattle on their tour with 12th Planet a few months ago and completely destroyed the Neptune Theater with a heavy and unforgettable live set. Their hip-hop and grime influenced music style has garnered attention and likes from bass music fans all across the world.
LICK
After releasing his début EP with Deadbeats, LICK been taking over multiple stages this summer, including Paradiso, Electric Forest, HARD Summer, and Das Energi. His unique heavily energetic and dark sound design, has earned him a rapidly growing fanbase. LICK has successfully put his own unique spin on popular tracks, releasing official remixes for Zeds Dead, Jauz, and more. His newly released debut album, DARK VIBE ORDER perfectly showcases his talents and skills as a music producer. The 11-track album is a collection of hard-hitting bangers as well as songs that shows LICK’s softer, more emotional side.
