Festival season is nigh upon us. As summer approaches, more and more enticing concerts pop up, and each lineup leaves the wallet a little bit lighter. The Northwest region’s lucky enough to access Paradiso, FVDED in the Park, Shambhala, and many more massive events, but these giants tend to overshadow some excellent local shows as well. We’ve discussed Parke Diem, which is coming up on June 6th, but we have yet to touch on 107.7 The End’s Summer Camp.
While Summer Camp is mostly known for the alternative music up-and-comers it brings each year, this year holds a lineup the likes of which have never been seen at the event. Featuring In the Valley Below, Meg Myers, Joywave, and Saint Motel for pure indie bliss, there’s a healthy dose of electronica as well. Chet Faker’s electronic blues stylings rounded out by Robert DeLong’s glitchy melodies? Matt & Kim’s eclectic, well, everything?
Hell yes.
It’s an atypical event for a dance music fan, sure, but it’s a solid lineup, and the show’s a local staple. It’s held in Marymoor Park on August 15th, and tickets go on sale this Friday (June 6th). They’re $49.50 for general admission, and $135.50 for the Camp Counselor VIP package. It’s all ages too, so it’s fun for the whole family—and gives a nice respite from the massive festivals.
