When it comes to festivals, the South can sometimes feel a little left out. When temperatures reach high extremes during the spring/summer, it’s hard to find festivals that can thrive with the heat mixed with the insane festival culture. We have managed to find some of the most exciting festivals around the Southern vicinity, all the way from Florida to California. From cities downtown, to deserts in some of the most remote areas, these are some festivals that you should add to your bucket list. We remind you no matter where you are in the country, please be safe and take care of yourselves at festivals, especially in areas with excessive heat. These festivals are in no specific order.
1. Sun City Music Festival – August 30-31
Ascarate Park – El Paso, Texas
Despite being a relatively new festival and taking place during one of the busiest weekends for DJ’s and performers (Labor Day weekend), Sun City Music Festival has already established itself as one of the largest EDM festivals in Texas within just a few short years. The lineup over the last few years has included some of the most in-demand DJ’s in the world like Armin van Burren, Tiesto, David Guetta, Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond and many other acts that are in high-demand all over the world. While the 2014 lineup is still being finalized, you can bet the promoters of Sun City Music Festival will bring us the very best talent for Labor Day weekend this year.
Tickets for the festival prove to be a steal for amount of talent involved with this festival. Passes start at $110 (after fees) for a 2-day GA pass. VIP tickets are slightly more: $185 for a 2-day pass that includes VIP entry, viewing decks/bars/restroom facilities. Be on the lookout for the lineup sometime very soon.
